Part 1: Separation
“Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.”
Genesis 12:1 NKJV
When God needs our attention or when He calls us, He separates us from what we know. When you’re trying to get the attention of that little toddler glued to the television, what do you do? You turn the tv off because maybe you have been trying to call out their name for some time but no response.
That’s what God does to you and I when He really needs our attention and can’t get it. He turns off our distraction to separate us from that thing or that someone. When we refer to the scripture above, we see that God told Abraham to,
1. Get out of his country, 2. From his family and 3. From his fathers house. God was separating him from his comfort zone, his comfort folks and his comfort ways. Physical separation was needed and there was a level of spiritual, emotional, and mental separation that was needed as well.
Now no one is telling you to go and block your family and friends in your contact list. God is simply stating that turn your focus to Him. Turning your focus to Him is a choice, it will require you to take a stance or to make a decision.
Most times we see serving the Lord as a passive thing instead of an active one. But, know that if you want to go deeper you must make decisions. The deeper you go the more you are separated from the things of this world.
Know that as much as it will hurt to rip yourself from what you have always known, it will never be in vain for you will gain far more (Matthew 19:29). So today, choose as Joshua did (Joshua 24:15). Choose as Abraham did and separate yourself unto the Lord in total obedience for His calling to activate upon your life. May the Lord bless you.
Don’t forget that Jesus loves you and that He is coming very soon.
