You see sometimes GOD speaks and directs us to a situation that will make you question Him. Be rest assured that GOD always knows what He’s doing and He never makes a mistake. Let’s check out this situation… Elijah was instructed by GOD to leave where he was and go to this widow. To make it more specific, GOD informed him that He had “commanded” this widow to provide for him. I’m sure Elijah felt at ease and felt relief that all will be well. Then he gets to the gate and sees this widow, he asks for water and we see she was able to meet that need without question based on her action after the request. But then before she could get the water, he asks for bread a “morsel” to be exact. So nothing big, just a tiny piece of bread to probably snack on.
Then we see the woman’s response in v. 12 that she’s gathering her last to eat and die with her son. Wait what? Did I hear right? How could that be possible? I’m I at the right city? Did I miss a turn? Is there another widow? Did I not hear GOD correctly? So many questions that would be flowing through my head if I was Elijah. This woman GOD said He has “commanded” to provide for me obviously needs a provider herself…But you see, Elijah didn’t react as some of us would have. Some of us would have left even without inquiring of GOD, some of us would have forgotten about GOD and said He had forsaken us, some of us would have been disappointed in GOD, etc…But Elijah did not do any of the above, because he knew the GOD he served and what He was capable of doing.
He spoke in faith and reassured the woman. If you continue to read on further, we see that indeed they were provided for until GOD’s appointed time…Maybe you have been in a drought for so many years and GOD has finally spoken or answered you. However, you are perplexed as to what you have received, because with your physical eyes it doesn’t seem to meet your standards. Do not be perplexed for the Lord has answered your prayer.
It may not look like what you envisioned but trust me it has everything and even beyond of what you asked for. Let’s illustrate it in this example, let’s say you want the latest newest model car fully loaded with everything in it and you ask GOD for it. The next day you see a car sized wrapped package outside your house and get so excited because you know you have received the answer to your request. Only to open the package and see your dream car inside but all in puzzle like pieces. Does the puzzle like pieces change it from being a car? Does that mean that GOD did not give you what you wanted? No, He gave you exactly what you wanted but He wants to build it together with you.
He wants you to see the value, He wants to teach you humility, He wants to teach you patience, He wants you to learn to trust Him. He wants to elevate you to a deeper level spiritually beyond what the eyes can see, He wants to do so much beyond just having the car. So if you are here today reading this and you are questioning if you are at the wrong end of an answered prayer, know that you are not. GOD knows exactly what He’s doing and why He’s doing it this way.
For all you know, this way will be lifesaving and will preserve what He’s about to do through you to last years from now. Don’t throw away your treasure GOD has given you just because of how it looks. Instead, have faith, put in the work and allow GOD to help you mold it into how He desires you to see and value it. It is more than well, Jesus is still with you and He is meeting you at every point of your need. He loves you more than you can ever imagine. Be blessed!

Insightful and powerful exposition. Sometimes ,the package God present to us might not look attractive in our eye but it might be the best for our life. We need to always stick to God’s voice and trust what He has said. Amen
